Coach Larsen was the assistant for Colorado State for seven seasons, serving as the primary coach for serve receive and defense. On the court she also worked with outside hitters during her tenure at Colorado State. In 1999 Larsen served as the top assistant at Clemson. From 1996-98, she was a coach for the Northern Colorado Volleyball Club (NORCO), one of the nation's premier club programs. She formerly played and coached the BTV Luzern Volleyball Club in Switzerland from 1995-96 and the Boulder Volleyball Club from 1992-94. As a coach, she has been active as a clinic and camp speaker and coach, providing insight and education to coaches and players. Larsen earned four varsity letter awards in volleyball at the University of Colorado, winning All-Big Eight honors and All-Midwest Region honors in 1993 and 1994. She was the conference career leader in kills, digs and attacks at the completion of her playing career and still is listed in the record books at Colorado. Larsen was also named the Colorado Sportswoman of the Year in 1995. Following her collegiate career, she played in Europe from 1995-96 and then was a member of the United States National team in 1997 and 1998. With the national team, she received Best Defensive Player honors twice in 1997. Once was at the Grand Prix Tournament and the other time was at the Norceca (North America, Central America, Caribbean) Championship. In 1993, she was a member of the United States ‘under 20 team’, which won a Silver Medal in the World University Games. She earned her bachelor's degree in International Affairs from Colorado in 1997. As a collegian, she was named to the dean's list in 1996 and 1997, and a member of the All-Big Eight Conference Academic Team. Formerly Karrie Downey, she married her husband Brett Larsen -- a member of the Colorado track team -- in 1994. They have an eight-year-old son, Cody, daughter Kai, twin boys Ben and Dane (2), as well as Lainey (1).
